Ideally situated on the foothills of Mount Psiloritis, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, an entire village has been lovingly renovated over the course of 15 years to produce a unique hotel experience. The village was originally a settlement which grew around the olive oil processing operation for the local monastery in 1763 and, under the guidance of the archaeological society of Greece, the original mill has been turned into a stylish museum which is now the centrepiece of the hotel. Perfect for couples, each room or suite is completely unique, each of them having been converted from the original village houses which were abandoned after the olive press closed in 1955. Here, there is no such thing a "standard" room. Surrounded by lush pine forests, olive groves and fragrant mountain flowers and herbs, it is a unique experience, ideally suited to those needing a peaceful retreat from the pressures of modern life whilst enjoying the very highest quality of accommodation and facilities. "A very special place !" This restored olive press village is unique and had only been open for three months when we arrived. Arkadi is a paradise of calm- and quite remote. The rooms are very well appointed, and although simple, are sophisticated in their design, attention to detail and fittings. The food is gastro Greek and vastly superior to most taverna fare. The staff are very friendly and customer focussed. There is an excellent pool and ample lounges. Thoroughly recommended for the more discerning holidaymaker who does not want mass tourism.
