    Megala Chorafia has been a popular choice for discerning visitors to the west of Crete for many years. We are delighted, therefore, to have exclusive access
    to this delightful traditional cottage with panoramic views to Souda Bay and the White Mountains.

    Popi's traditional house has three bedrooms (two doubles and a twin), with the upper level bedroom suite having seperate access via a large terrace, wiyth
    stunning sea and mountain views, making it ideal for two groups of friends or a larger family group. There is a full kitchen with fridge/freezer, washing
    machine, dishwasher and a 4 ring cooker with oven and a dining/lounge area. In addition, the house has a seperate lounge with fireplace for winter guests.
    Air conditioning is fitted in all bedrooms.

    There is a private swimming pool and outdoor jacuzzi in the garden and the front garden provides a shaded area with a huge variety of mature trees, vines
    and fragrant flowers. With original wooden beams, furniture and stonework, this is an example of a real traditional home rather than a modern build or
    renovation which has been designed to appear "traditional".

    The three tavernas of the village and the kafeneion are just 5 minutes by car from the house, although it is just a pleasant 15 minute walk down the village.

This charming traditional village is set at the foothills of the dramatic White Mountains, overlooking
the Bay of Souda and 10km East of Chania. The neighbouring village of Aptera has three tavernas
and a kafeneion (1912!) and, by taking the back roads, you can easily reach the surrounding villages
of Stilos, Provarma, Neo Horio and Armeni by car.

Peaceful and quiet, with the exception of local weddings, baptisms and name day celebrations, the
village provides easy access (2km) to the National Highway and is a perfect base for exploring the
area of Apokoronas and the wider area of western Crete.

A stunning area of natural beauty. The ancient Greco-Roman city of Aptera is nearby, along with a
fabulous Venetian castle. The area is ideal for walking, cycling and particularly suitable for those
with an interest in the spring and autumn flowers.

The nearest beach is approximately 4 km, at Kalami.
