| Marialena Villas , Megala Chorafia, Chania |
Situated in a quiet position in the village of Megala Chorafia, these spacious villas and detached apartments offer a peaceful base for exploring the beautiful villages of the Apokoronas area, and the West. Manolis, Sofia, and their daughter Marialena, embody the true spirit of Cretan hospitality. There are two large swimming pools set in colourful gardens, brimming with flowers, herbs and fruit trees and the back drop of the majestic White mountains helps to provide a unique ambiance to this small complex. Within five minutes walk of the three tavernas and traditional kafeneion in the village, they provide an excellent environment for couples and families alike. There are two types of accommodation, one bedroom apartments for 2 persons and two bedroom apartments for 4 persons. The larger apartments consist of a double bed and two single beds and the smaller ones have either double or twin beds. With stunning views across the valley to the White Mountains, yet only 4 km to the nearest beach, it is a perfect base for exploring the west or just relaxing around the pool and enjoying traditional village life in the immediate area. The apartments are detached, fully equipped for self catering, including a toaster, kettle, cooking rings and fridge. If you are lucky you may also experience one of Manolis' barbeques (we did!) and join in the celebrations and dancing. |

| Megala Chorafia This charming traditional village is set at the foothills of the dramatic White Mountains, overlooking the Bay of Souda and 10km East of Chania. The neighbouring village of Aptera has three tavernas and a kafeneion (1912!) and, by taking the back roads, you can easily reach the surrounding villages of Stilos, Provarma, Neo Horio and Armeni by car. Peaceful and quiet, with the exception of local weddings, baptisms and name day celebrations, the village provides easy access (2km) to the National Highway and is a perfect base for exploring the area of Apokoronas and the wider area of western Crete. A stunning area of natural beauty. The ancient Greco-Roman city of Aptera is nearby, along with a fabulous Venetian castle. The area is ideal for walking, cycling and particularly suitable for those with an interest in the spring and autumn flowers. The nearest beach is approximately 4 km, at Kalami. |
