|
The Mouragio Apartments are situated near the beautiful harbour of Georgioupolis and just 100m from the village centre. The long sandy beach of Georgioupolis is only 40 m away. The owner is closely associated with the sea, working for the local ferry boat company, and all of the apartments are decorated with a nautical theme.
The 8 attractive studios and apartments with kitchenette, balcony and bathroom with bathtub and hair-drier also offer a telephone, local satellite TV, music and air-conditioning. There is one apartment with an additional second bedroom. All the apartments have balconies with picturesque views of the sea and the harbour. There is also a large public pool 150metres from the apartments which is available to all for the price of renting a sunbed.
Situated half way between the two cities, it is ideally situated for exploring the area from Rethymnon to Chania and just 6km from the fabulous Lake Kournas. Regular bus services run both east and west to the two major cities, and the Drapanos peninsular and Apokoronas regions are nearby for experiencing the traditional villages, food and wines of the area.

Georgioupolis Area Information
Georgioupolis lies directly between Rethymnon and Chania on the North West coast of Crete. Despite being
a relatively busy tourist resort here throughout the summer months, the town still manages to hold on to its
fishing village atmosphere and is a good choice for a relaxing holiday. There are 9km of sandy beach, with
crystal clear water, and sand dunes in places. If you like to explorea, Georgioupolis is also a good base to
discover the Western side of Crete.
The main square is surrounded by cafeterias, bars and restaurants, and there is also a good selection
along the main routes throughout the village. Locally caught fish are a speciality in most of the restaurants
and they are generally inexpensive.
Three rivers run into the Cretan sea here, and you can feel the change in temperature in the estuaries, as
the river meets the sea. Fishermen sort their catch every morning on the quayside in the small harbour, and
spend the afternoons mending their nets. Just beyond the village are a series of wetlands, which is home
to a variety of wild birds.
A small "road-train" runs daily excursions to nearby Lake Kournas (the only fresh water lake on Crete), and
the pretty mountain village of Argiropolis.A good choice for relaxing beach holidays and exploring the
surrounding areas - but don't expect wild nightlife in this chilled out cosmopolitan resort.
