Provarma Traditional Cottage, Near Stilos, Chania

Quietly situated in the unspoilt, picturesque traditional village of Provarma, at the foot hills of the White Mountains, this 120 year old cottage has been
beautifully restored. The cottage features wooden beamed ceilings, and many of the original fittings and is furnished in the traditional Cretan style.

The private walled garden offers a swimming pool, with sunning area, a traditional stone BBQ and out door dining furniture. The garden brims with
mature trees, fragrant herbs and colorful flowers, a perfect place to relax and listen to the bird singing and the background tinkle of the sheep's bells
as they graze in the nearby fields.

The cottage has two bedrooms, one with an antique double bed, and the second with two single beds, making it perfect for a family of four.
The cottage also has two bathrooms, both with shower and w/c, and a traditional style Cretan kitchen, equipped for self catering. A seating area on
the upstairs terrace provides excellent views of the unspoilt countryside and to the sea beyond. The sky here at night is unpolluted by town lights, and
the clear view of the stars at night is second to none.

This cottage is a perfect choice for couples or small families wanting to relax in a quiet, beautiful, unspoilt Cretan village. The area is one of
outstanding natural beauty, and is particularly beautiful in the Spring time, when the wild flowers and wild orchids are in bloom. The nearest sandy
beach is at Kalami, about a 10 minute drive away through olive and orange groves. The village of Stilos offers a selection of excellent traditional
tavernas and a couple of traditional Kafenion coffee shops.

Area Information for Provarma & Stilos

Provarma is a small village near to the larger settlement of Stilos, with much of the old winding village
pathways still visible. The local people tend their flowers and vegetables with care and are fiercely
proud of their local wines, honey and tsikoudia. The area is still reliant on agriculture and rearing
livestock.

In mythology, Zeus traveled to Stilos to drink the pure waters from the springs. The well known
"Samaria" brand of bottled water is still produced from the springs in the village. Fresh local produce is
always available in the village shop, kafeneions and tavernas  and sitting under the vast plane trees
next to the springs is one of the great joys of this area, as is the excellent fresh organic produce used
to create the most mouth watering traditional Cretan dishes..

Just 10 minutes by car from the beaches at Kalives and Kalami.
