The traditional settlement of Samonac located in an elevated position with spectacular views of the White mountains and sea, in the district of Apokoronas, Chania.at an altitude of 400 m and at a distance of 25 km from Chania town. Each of the five houses is built on two-storeys (maisonettes) with unlimited views to the mountain and the sea. They are exclusively built in stone and wood to match their surroundings. Each house is built at a different level due to the ground's steep incline, with common courtyards as well as independent verandas or balconies and quiet corners. All houses have two main entrances with traditional rustic locks and big iron keys. They are decorated with folklore objects and antiques. All incorporate the same comforts and luxury, although they differ in size and layout. The reception houses a small traditional coffee house where visitors may taste tsikoudia, wine, herbs and local dishes, and a small shop, providing locally grown organic produce and a small selection of necessary items. This area provides Internet wireless connection and also includes a small library, music cds, dvd films and board games. The settlement also includes a large traditional wood-oven and barbecue, swimming pool, well equipped gym and Turkish bath. Villa Facilities: Fully equipped built-in kitchen with oven, ceramic cook-stoves, refrigerator, freezer, dish washer, microwaves, coffee pot, toaster, small electric sweeper, pressure cooker and a whole line of well-known kitchen items and top quality dinner service. Dining room with a large table made of wood and marble and hand-made engraved chairs. Sitting room with fireplace, TV, DVD-player, stereo, telephone, double or triple couch with orthopaedic mattresses which can easily convert to two single or one double bed. Bedroom with double bed with orthopaedic mattress, toilet-mirror, wardrobe, screen, full-length mirror, iron, ironing-board, telephone etc Bathroom with shower, washing machine and washer dryer, hair dryer. All the houses have at least one independent courtyard or veranda and balcony with traditional outdoor furniture. Each house has air-conditioning on both floors and hot water from solar and electric water heater. All the furniture is handmade and carved from beech. The linen draperies are embroidered and the quilts and pillows are feather. The village still preserves its picturesque character since it is really very small and has very few inhabitants. Their main occupation is stock-raising and agriculture .There are many traditional villages in the area of Apokoronas to discover, and here the pace of life is slow. This accommodation offers a tranquil, quiet and unique base for re charging ones batteries in beautiful surroundings, and away from the fast pace of modern life.
