It is increasingly difficult to find the "real" Crete. Villa Malles is a small group of village houses which have been tastefully and professionally restored to
form five wonderful studios and apartments in the heart of a true Cretan village. There is a taverna attached to the apartments which uses only produce
from the village itself, guaranteeing the very highest standard of organic food, local wine and raki.

Situated 15 minutes (by car) inland from the small coastal resort of Myrtos, the apartments offer an insight into village life and guests are encouraged to join
in with the grape and olive harvests in season. Although popular with visitors from Greece, you may well find that you are the only "foreigners" in the village.

In an area rich with churches, a small gorge, abandoned villages, a kafeneion which serves water direct from a mountain spring waterfall, fabulous views to
the south coast and the Lassithi mountains to the rear, this is a perfect place for walkers. In the spring, flower enthusiasts can see both mountain and
lowland varieties just by walking down to the coast or up the Sarakina Gorge, or Sarantapichou as the locals call it. According to the myth Sarantapichos (a
giant, son of Zeus) whilst passing through the mountain bent down to drink some water from the river. His long beard split the mountain in two and that is
    how the gorge was created.

The Apartments are named after local herbs and are individually designed, each having a unique style. The largest, "Dictamus", has two levels with two
balconies, providing spacious accommodation for a couple or a family group using the sofa bed in the lounge area. "Mint" is the next largest, featuring a
four poster bed, and ideal for romantic breaks."Marjoram" is a one bedroom apartment which has twin mattresses configured on a double bed base.
"Lavender" is a double bed studio apartment, ideal for couples and "Thyme" has twin mattresses configured as a double bed with a sofa bed in the same
room for guests who prefer to have their children nearby.
