Neo Horio Cottage, Neo Chorio, Chania

Originally built in 1780, this village centre cottage is located just ten minutes drive from the sea and facilities of Kalives. It was sympathetically renovated as
a holiday home in 1993 and has been a popular choice for those wanting to be away from the seaside crowds since then. It is a short 15km drive to the
centre of Xania and a perfect base to explore the west of the island.

The large 130m2 accommodation comprises two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious lounge and seating area, plus a kitchen with refrigerator. A
delightful terrace is available for dining al fresco with views to the White Mountains and the sea. There are also two sofa beds suitable for extra guests in
the lounge, giving a total sleeping capacity of 6.

Available all year round, firewood is provided in the winter for use in the living room fireplace.  The local kafeneions and tavernas are traditional village style
and are just a 50m walk from the house. Realistically priced, this property is ideal for couples, families, and groups of friends who want to avoid the tourist
traps and commercialisation of the coastal  towns whilst being within easy reach of the main tourist attractions..

The village of Neo Chorio ( or Neo horio), is situated in the area of Armeni, in the beautiful Apokoronas , 22km
from the town of Chania, and nestles comfortably against the side of a hill overlooking a lush valley of olive and
orange groves. The village winds upwards from the village square, with its huge Plane tree providing shade in
the summer, for the locals sitting enjoying their coffee at one of the traditional kafeneons. There is a local mini
market, selling fresh bread, local fruit & vegetables and many other sundries, and a small selection of tavernas
serving simple traditional cuisine.

There are many villages to visit in the area such as Armeni, famed for its spectacular church, shady tree lined
roads and excellent tavernas. Stylos, with its clear flowing rivers and back drop of the White mountains, and the
crystal clear waters and sandy beaches of nearby Kalami and Kalives.

Farming is still the main occupation in this area.
