                                     Ferma & Koutsounari area

Ferma's most charming feature is in fact its coastline, beautiful little sandy coves and pebble
beaches with crystal clear waters. During the 1980's it was one of the most visited tourist resorts
of the Ierapetra County. Nowadays it is a quiet little town, mostly because tourism has not been
further exploited; The reason why, possibly lies in the fact that the locals don't have to rely on
tourism alone; the local horticulture provides an generous income for the locals.
The early spring moinths are a good time to visit when the wild flowers and orchids endemic to
Crete are in full bloom, and there are many pleasurable walks to be enjoyed around the area.
