Set in a friendly and tranquil traditional village steeped in history, Swallow Cottage stands in lush gardens, with fruit orchards and olive groves. The private pool has a large terraced area, with outdoor furniture and a traditional stone BBQ. The villa is named after the swallows which nest in the area, and can be seen swooping over the garden throughout the day. This large villa sleeps up to 8 people and has been beautifully furnished with Cretan art and antiques and traditional woven carpets. There are three large bedrooms plus a sleeping gallery, reminiscent of the days when the animals slept on the ground floor of the houses. On the lower floor there is a large dining room. The living room has TV/DVD and stereo and the lower sitting room houses a large selection of English books. The fully equipped kitchen, contains all the modern appliances expected to make your stay more comfortable. The tree lined inner court yard houses a traditional Cretan stone oven and the securely covered original well. This traditional villa is a beautiful character residence, close to historical sights of interest such as Knossos Palace,the nearest beach is a 10 minute drive away. The central location makes a great base for exploring the east and west of the island. |
