    Velani Country Hotel was created to enable visitors who want to experience rural Crete at its very best. Set on the western approaches to
    the Lassithi Plateau and overlooking a wide valley, the hotel offers half board accommodation in its very own taverna complete with  
    traditional wood burning oven (don't miss the oven baked lamb on Sunday). With mountains rising to over 8000 feet, it is one of the most
    stunning landscapes in Crete. The hotel is influential and dedicated to the promotion of eco-tourism and responsible tourism throughout
    the island of Crete

          Equestrian

    The hotel houses an equestrian centre and horse riding treks for beginners or experienced riders(minimum age 12 years) may be arranged,
    subject to availability, as an interesting diversion during your holiday. Special children's programs can be arranged on request for 8 to 12
    year olds.

          Ornithology

    Privately guided bird watching programmes, featuring the indigenous birds of prey (Golden Eagle, Griffon & Bearded Vultures. Bonelli's
    Eagle, Eleanoras Falcon) are also available for a maximum of 3 guests.

    Further details of both options are available on request and there are also many walking trails to explore in the area.

    The accommodation is set away from the taverna building and a delightful pool area allows guests to relax and enjoy the serenity of the
    Cretan countryside. The hotel is reached via a service road which is best negotiated in a 4 x 4 vehicle, although passable, with care,  in a
    standard car. Car hire is strongly advised for this property although taxi transfers can be arranged if preferred. Most airport taxis will not
    take you to the hotel because of the road conditions so you are advised to reserve through us to avoid complications.
